A few minutes past the harbour the Atlantic drops away to hundreds of metres — that is why Tenerife is one of the best big game spots in Europe. You leave Costa Adeje early, the crew sets the lines, and then comes the waiting, until a reel starts screaming. Blue marlin is photographed and released; tuna, wahoo or dorado you take with you, and the skipper will tell you where to have it cooked.

None at all. The crew rigs everything and hands you the rod when a fish is on — plenty of people land their first tuna here without ever having held a rod.
It changes with the season: blue marlin in summer, then tuna, wahoo, dorado or amberjack the rest of the year. Marlin always goes back in the water; the rest you can keep if you want it.
